So, I went to see my Advisor today to get some of those classes I was talking about corrected. Well, it turns out that he is quite possibly the laziest human being to walk (or rather sit in his damn chair and not offer me a seat) the damn planet. It turns out that according to him that if I need help with anything outside the Communications Dept, that I should talk to the department in question. This seems to me to be the exact opposite of the purpose of an advisor. That sentence barely made sense, but deal with it. Then I decided that I should have him fill out this form KMBC sent me for a faculty advisor to complete. Well, he wouldn’t even look at it telling me I needed to fill out the Internship Eligibility packet. Oh great, I thought. So now I have to a) contact EVERY single department on campus I have a class I need course credit for and convince them I deserve said credit and b) take classes that will teach me what I already know from working in the field. Sounds like fucking fun, eh? Yeah…
In other news, my new phone is still a wonder in my eyes, but I have discovered that Microsoft just canNOT write a stable OS. My new phone has actually locked up a couple of times today. I chuckled to myself as I was being very annoyed. Oh, and I did verify that I can access regular non-WAP website connecting through GPRS. Keep in mind it is slow as hell and would cost damn near a dollar a page, but it’s good alternative if you don’t have Wi-Fi and need to access the ‘Net or check your email RIGHT NOW. Usually, though you can just drive down to the local Country Kitchen or some other place with free Wi-Fi and connect. I’ve tried connecting to Warrensburg’s Country Kitchen’s Wi-Fi, but I think I need some kind of info from them I didn’t really care to get at the time. I know that I have setup the Wi-Fi connection to my apartment’s wireless router correctly because one of my comments on the previous post of mine was posted via my phone (and here’s the awesomely pretentious part) while sitting in front of my computer. I think this phone is just too damn cool, everyday I’m finding out new things about it. Here is one thing I have a beef about, there is no File Transfer protocol via Bluetooth. Yeah, the phone comes with MS’s ActiveSync and a USB cable so I can and have sent files to the phone, but I think it’s a major oversight to exclude File Transfer via Bluetooth. It uses mini-USB, which is pretty universal and the same cable type Lexy’s mp3 player uses. Also it’s the same type of plug the RAZR has as a charge port, but you need to download and install third party drivers to even charge your RAZR through a USB port. I’m sure there is some software out there for the RAZR to transfer files via USB, but really, just invest $15 and get a Bluetooth dongle. What was I talking about? I don’t remember. Oh, yeah. You can charge this smartphone via a wall plug or through the USB cable. It’s pretty neat. Overall, given the pros and cons, I overall enjoy the phone very much. Problem is, the more I talk about it, the more you guys will probably get one and if that happens then I have to get a better phone. It’s a vicious cycle that has to stop somewhere guys. I don’t want to have to spend another $300+ on a new phone, I’d like to have this one for a long while, so I forbid you guys to get this phone. That is all. I’m going to bed now.
