On Halo 3

I am really excited about Halo 3.  Halo was the first game that brought me into the “next generation” of gaming.  Now, I’m all up to date on newest generation of came consoles.  Halo was fantastic, I loved it.  I really enjoyed playing coop through the game.  Having two people play an FPS (First Person Shooter) at the same time is way better than just one person.  Don’t get me wrong, I like to play through the game myself, but when you have another person, you find ways to cheat and have a ton of fun.  John and I were really good at that, but alas, we will not discover any tricks and mind-blowing stunts for Halo 3.  Now, in Halo 3, they have announced that they will be having a 4 player coop.  This is done by way of system link, Xbox Live, or a combination of two-player split screen and system link or Xbox Live or any combination thereof.  I really like this.  What I REALLY like about the Halo 3 coop is that the extra players aren’t playing as other Master Chiefs, they are playing as other ancillary characters like the Arbiter and two other Covenent Elites.  However, the only other person that I know of that would want to play coop with me on XBL would be Adam and he would want to play it on Legendary.  Dave might want to play some coop, but he doesn’t strike me as a Halo fan.  Me and Legendary, we have issues.  Personally, I think Legendary is so hard that it takes away a lot of the fun of the game.  I’m sure a lot of that has to do with the fact that I’m not the hardcore gamer/Halo player a lot of other people are.  I enjoy an FPS that is just hard enough to be fun, but not so hard you feel like it’s work.  That is what Legendary is.  Legendary, by the way, is a difficulty level.  It’s above hard.  In fact, I would call it Hard-Enough-To-Kill-Your-Dog, but I think Legendary has more of a ring to it.  Though getting four people together for a coop game would be sweet.  Four players in two warthogs tearing up a map?  Awesome.  Or four Mongoose ATVs bowling over some baddies?  Even awesomer than awesome.  We shall see, but I’m thinking the ATV may become my favorite driving machine of the Halo series.  So far the Warthog has been my baby.  I learned how to drive the shit out of that machine, put it places no Warthog was meant to go.  Hopefully the ATV will live up to my expectations, but really no game has completely fulfilled my FPS dreams.  Call of Duty 4 may be a jump in that direction, but we’ll see how that game plays when it comes out.

Halo 3 sounds like it will be awesome. We haven't shelled out for an Xbox 3 yet but we will one of these days when the bills get a little more caught up. The four player co-op is totally going to be my favorite part! Jason and I play on occation. He plays alone and with some of his friends on occation as well. He gets frustrated with them though because they are more hard core gamers than he and have memorized all the maps in 1 and 2.

I told him about this post and he said "Sounds like a blast. Tony sounds like the kind of player I could really get along with on a mission. Except we might have to take turns with the wart hog. I bet we could swap some great stories about getting it stuck in strange places. I don't enjoy legendary either for the same reasons. Tell him we have a cross over link cable for the original x-box and like to have lan parties sometimes. It would be cool if he and Lexy could come and make a night of it some time. I'd like to meet her. She sounds nice. Plus she is nice to you so that is a big plus. Tell her congrats on her job. I can't wait to get an x-box 3... maybe next month or the next... not soon enough. Maybe when the price goes down, ha." Maybe we could get some Smirnoff Ice or something and hang out some time?

Lexy has my number and you both know ways to get a hold of me/us. I check my myspace every day at least twice. Please keep up the interesting and though provoking posts. Another well thought out one this is... keep up the great work! Are you sure you don't want to be a writer?

I only wish I were a little better at Halo. I have never played with anyone but myself, ha ha ha, and I am not very good. I like the game just the same! It sounds like multiplayer would be fun!!!

Aaah, the warthog. Thinking of it brings back fond memories of pc level editing of the original Halo, and making the warthog weigh like a couple ounces, hit a bump and you just went flying off into the sky never to be seen again. Or, there was always making it like a billion pounds, and when you tried to do a jump, you just smashed into the bottom of the chasm at the speed of light. Good times :)

I still regularly host halo 2 LAN parties. My friends and I are still pretty sharp at a lot of the maps and tricks to the game. My friend Russell and I sometimes have to play on legendary because we've played so much. We can sometimes blow our way through the game as if the enemies were as easy as shake-n-bake (if it's a good day). But we still have a lot more fun tuning down the difficulty to heroic or normal a lot of the time because it is exactly like Two Tone said. Sometimes the game is more fun with a moderate challege than with a massive one. I tend to switch through the difficulties depending on how recent and how much I have played.

We are in no way ready for tournament play. Nathan and I went to a tournament and played against a couple of guys who had no-scope sniping down pat. We could not walk out of a door without dying from a sniper bullet. It was really really frustrating to play against those guys because it is no fun at all to play guys who would utterly demolish us, in the first round I might add.

I would be happy to hang out and play some halo 3 with you Moogaman (considering that I do not own and probably won't own a 360 anytime soon). But in this third installment I will probably have to start of on easy or normal before I can get the hang of it's mechanics. I am really excited to play the game :D !!!
