Today, I’m going to talk about a few advances in a couple of projects I’m working on.
The feature film is going forward smoothly. We did some location scouting on Wednesday. The wooded area was good, it had a bomb shelter we might try to fit in if possible, but it will require of VFX to actually get the entrance to an area someone would actually stumble into. There is also the question of audio at the location. There was a lot of ambient traffic noise that would come through on mic. Not impossible to get around if we replaced the ambient from a different, quieter forest. Then, we would have to re-record the voice tracks. Might be a lot of work, but also might be what we will need to do. Also, I need to get my name up there a bit more and make sure people know this isn’t just Jerry’s project, but mine and Allie’s as well. All three of us are getting credit for this project and all three of us will be working our asses off to get it done.
One other project I’m “actively” working on is editing together the footage I shot for my cousin’s wedding. It will be a challenge and a lot of work, so I think I will hold off the editing until after finals next week. A seven page paper and four finals (two at 8 am and I live almost an hour away) don’t make for a peaceful, creative environment. I will need to unlock a lot of the creativity up in my brain to edit through some of the major frackups I made while shooting. I have most of it laid out in my head, I think, but it will be up to me to actually make any of it happen. Try to avoid a single camera shoot if you can’t do multiple takes.
I have a couple other projects I want to get started, but they will require me to get at least a shotgun mic, if not a couple of wireless lavaliere mics. So they are on hold until I can convince the wife to let me spend several hundred more dollars on equipment.
