What the hell is this?

I found this via the great FireFox extension, StumbleUpon. I thought it was ridiculous enough to share with you.

And a Happy New Year

We are back from the Christmas fiasco.  We had a lot of fun, got a lot of good stuff.  Things were fairly the same this year as last, save for the lack of family explosion at this year’s Lexy’s family’s Christmas.  That was appreciated.  We added a fifth Christmas celebration this year.  It was a gathering of Mike, Mary, Ryan, Kody, Lexy, and myself.  Just the six of us chilling, eating, having fun.  Very much less stressful than the previous four and a good punctuation mark on the whole Christmas celebration. I wish I could have spent more time with Steve and Adam, but I’m sure we can do that at a later time.

My buddy Steve is getting married on New Year’s Eve.  Go him.  I’m happy he found someone that he is happy with.  In fact, this YouTube video should sum up how I feel about Steve getting married:

To make sure there wouldn’t be any problems, I sent John a message via the MySpace just making sure we’d all be cool and such.  I truly hope he gets it, reads it, and responds.  Maybe it’s just me, but I really do wish we could all be friends again.  It would significantly remove some complications and would be fun.  Alas, I know that some friendships just aren’t meant to be and it makes me sad to see that particular friendship get tossed.  Can’t blame anyone but myself, right?

I did notice one weird thing while I was writing that message.  I got dizzy and felt like I was about to pass out.  What the hell could that have been?  Really, I can’t explain it.  Any of you have any ideas?

Ok.  Have a good post-Christmas or whatever you celebrate.

A few things that I liked recently.

First. The Gillette Fusion. You know the one with 5 main blades and a 6th blade on its own? Yeah, I actually tried it and I have to say that I don’t hate it. It isn’t like the Schick Quattro, which will kill you if given the chance. For my face the Fusion is much like the Mach 3 Turbo just slightly better. I’m not sure if it is better enough to buy more Fusion razors, but I’ll have to decide on that later.

Another thing I found that I liked was this. If you have ever played Portal, and I’m tell you that you should, then you will find this funny. The song is what is played during the end credit sequence in the game. The animation was done by VG Cats, a rather funny webcomic. The actual name for the guy is at the end of video. I could try to explain any questions about the video, but really you should just go and play Portal.

The third thing on today’s list is Assassin’s Creed. I’ve got this game from GameFly and have been playing it on and off when the feeling strikes me. Overall the game is fun, but there are some things that I don’t really like about it. The science fiction aspect of the game is pretty retarded. For the majority of the game you play an assassin during the Third Crusade, but you actually play a guy who used to be an assassin in present times, but is now a bartender, but is the ancestor of the other assassin you play. You get to the Crusade-era assassin through a machine that takes genetic memory and renders it in a three dimensional realm. It is almost a clever way of explaining you, the player, but I would just much rather play a game where I pretend to be a badass Crusade-era Batman-like character who kills people. This whole movement in games where you explain the player is kind of cool if you do it right, but if you make too much of a deal about it, the game can be ruined in a sense. I think I’m almost to the point where I’ve played it enough to send it back and get a new game.

The last thing that I will talk about it is No Country for Old Men. This movie is amazing. There are so many things going on that eventually come together at the end that it keeps you wondering what is going to happen next. It is kind of an action movie that doesn’t present itself as an action movie. Really, it is more like a drama with awesome gunfights. The gist of the movie is Llewelyn Moss (Josh Brolin) finds a sack full of money and an assassin (Javier Bardem) is hired to get it back. The movie has some very tense moments that keep you on the edge of your seat for the whole two hours, but the movie will seem much longer than it actually is. The gunfights are not over the top, they are actually extremely realistic and each gunshot made my heart skip a beat. The Coen Brothers did an excellent job on this film with a great combination of action, drama, and the right kind of comedy at the right times.  With no background music through the entire film, even the most expected things will make you jump.  Well, they made me jump.  Anton Chigurh is now second on my list of creepy-awesome bad guys in a movie, second only to Hannibal Lecter.  This is a must see movie.

Boy Attacked By Moose… ROFLMFAO x 1,000,000

WOWInsider: A Norweigian news site is reporting that a young boy and his sister were attacked by a moose. The boy reportedly “taunted’ the moose away from his sister, and then feigned death, causing the moose to lose aggro and leave. “Just like you learn in level 30 in World of Warcraft,” the boy reportedly said.

Holy shitballs, this is fucking hilarious.

Sorry about the third post

I am doing some site tests and it seems Wordpress 2.3.x has problems with one of my plugins.  The Archive plugin to be exact.  I have deactivated it and if this posts successfully, then I know the Enhanced Live Archive has some issues.

There have been some site updates

I updated the site to Wordpress 2.3.1 and the theme K2 RC3. There shouldn’t be any problems, but if there is something broken, let me know.

Tony got sick and died.

That is the last entry in my Oregon Trail journal.  That’s right.  I found the game and played it.  Boo ya.

The game is impossible.  I swear.

Nothing New

I’m pretty much just updating here just to update. There really isn’t a whole lot going on. Just trying to finish out the semester and take the much needed winter break.

I have a GameFly account now. Mostly because Dave and I are sharing the account, which makes it rather cheap, considering and there are quite a few games that I want to play, but not necessarily buy. This way I can play them until I am satisfied and move on to the next game. Right now I have Assassin’s Creed for the PS3. I don’t know how I feel about that one yet. I also have The Orange Box for the Xbox 360. I really like The Orange Box because the sensation of playing Portal and Half-Life 2 is much different than playing them on the PC, but at the same time, much the same. I makes sense to me.

Speaking of PCs, I have a bitching new 22″ widescreen (16:10) monitor. It is an Acer AL2216W. Definitely not the topest of the top of the line, but still up there in terms of performance. CNet said that the only really bad thing about it was that it had “[n]o extras such as speakers or USB ports.” I’m okay with that. Lexy got the monitor as a Christmas present for me and now I have to think of a present for Lexy, though she thinks I’m done buying her presents. We paid under $200 for it last week at Newegg.com, but I think we picked up a leftover Cyber Monday deal. Either way, it is a nice monitor and running at 1680 x 1050 is WAAAY better than the lowly (and 4:3) 1024 x 768. I don’t know how I lived without all this screen space. I’ll put up a picture of it on my desk one of these days, but you can find pictures of it at the two links in this paragraph.

There is a little app I would recommend running on your computer if you use it more than once or twice a day. It’s called ObjectDock. It is very much like the Dock on Apple’s OS X operating sytem, but for Windows. You have to jump through some hoops to find the download and make sure you are downloading the free version rather than the pay-for one. I don’t really know the differences between the versions, but I do know that this dock is much better than the other one I was using, RKLauncher.

I’ve started playing WoW, though I can’t (read: shouldn’t) really talk about that in such a public place. It’s a public secret. I will suffice to say that my computer can run WoW at 1680 x 1050 and it is awesome.

Need to get ready for class and work. It is kind of convenient that I work on the same campus I go to class. I can’t remember whether any of you actually know where I work. I tutor people in math. Mostly Calculus, but apparently the amount of Calc hours we have had this semester is more than four times any previous semester. There have been some in for Elementary to College Algebra, but mostly my regulars are for Calculus. I don’t mind it, I get to remember all that I forgot of math. I dare say it is keeping me sharp. The program I work for is federally funded, so I get paid, but the students I tutor get the service for free. Sounds like a pretty sweet deal? It’s alright. I’m working about 14 hours per week, but that’s about the limit I would want to work and go to school with. Luckily Lexy is bitchin’ and supporting me in my life decision.

There, that should fill the update hole for a little while.
