How about some nice stuff to talk about?

Ok. Here it is. My official, on the Internet, opinion of Halo 3. It… is… awesome. It is awesome in the sense that it is a Halo game. I’ve always loved Halo and was kind of disappointed with the story on Halo 2. I’m sure you’ve heard about that. The cliffhanger ending and all that. Yeah, I liked the game, but it felt a little empty to me. The first Halo was a fulfilling, open game with big levels that were a bit linear, but still fun. Halo 2 was extremely linear and had hardly any feel of openness to it. Halo 3 still has that feeling of linear gameplay, but it is masked. You feel like you are in these huge, open levels, but you still are given a perfect, defined path through the level. I don’t really mind it because each level is huge and generally takes a while to play through. Single player is fun, but it’s coop that I’ve always really liked. I love playing through the game with another person and having the satisfaction of working together and developing strategies. Legendary isn’t actually all that tough. If you play with at least one other buddy (you can play with up to three other people in coop) Legendary is more than manageable, though I would play through on Normal first just to get the story of the game. Dave and I got him through Legendary on his 360 and maybe someday he will help me get through it on mine.

There are a couple of things about Halo 3 that I really like a little more than the campaign. They are the Theater and Forge. First, the Theater. Playing back films and clips, recording your own clips of multiplayer matches, taking screenshots, and best of all, downloading other people’s clips, films, and screenshots are all part of Theater. The last one is the one that I find really fun. I love downloading people’s clips, watching them and either getting amazed at the hilarity or skill shown or just laughing at the stupidity. Just great. Very fun and a nice break from playing the game constantly.

Then there is Forge. A very cool little tool added to Halo 3 that allows you to take the maps in the game and adjust damn near every part of the level without actually changing the structure of the level itself. You can change spawn locations, vehicles, weapons, add anything to the level, take away things from the level. It’s pretty open on what you can do. You just can’t actually affect the physical parts of the level, which I am okay with. Even without creating custom maps, you can still create some fun levels. I know I have.

Then once you get your film clips and custom maps with a few custom gametypes, you can upload them to Bungie’s site for other people to download. All you have to do is just tell Halo 3 to upload them, then people can go online and tag items to be downloaded.  Then the next time you load up Halo 3, they items you tagged get downloaded automatically.  Pretty fucking cool if you ask me.

Oh, and one last thing.  Armor variations for multiplayer avatars.  Very cool.  I just wish some of them were as easy to unlock as others.  There are a lot of armor combinations that you can get and it can make a character look pretty badass.

So, overall.  I really like Halo 3 and have been obsessed with getting all the achievements that I can without actually getting an Xbox Live Gold account.  All I have left is to get those levels beat on Legendary and I am golden.

Again, my gamertag for Xbox Live is Two Tone Ska.  Add me as a friend if you wanna.  I really hope you do.

I was going to talk about the TV shows that I watch now, but I think I will just list them here and tell you that they are good and you should be watching them.  In HD if you have it (not all on the list are available in HD :( ).

  • Heroes
  • Chuck
  • Journeyman
  • Bionic Woman
  • Top Gear
  • The Next Iron Chef
  • Its Always Sunny in Philadelphia
  • Criminal Minds
  • Numb3rs
  • Scrubs (New on Thursday!)

That list is in no way ordered, they are all good shows and you should watch them.  If you have another show that you like, let me know and I will tell if I watch it and what I think of it.  Believe me, since Premier Week, I have been a TV watching fool and have been watching a lot of great stuff and a lot of crap.  I love it.

Go Red Sox!
(I’m not really a baseball fan, but I’ve always wanted to go to Boston)

I’m also looking at getting an internship at Revision3.   Wish me luck.

That was very nice to talk about.

That was refreshing. I was uncertain if the 360 and Halo 3 were really worth it but this has certainly swung things in a positive direction. I hear most of those shows are excellent, especially Heros. Sadly I don’t have any way to watch them as we don’t have cable, satelite, etc. Boston is nice but chilly this time of year. I’d rather go some where warm but you might like it there. It is an interesting city with some fun night life. It sounds like you might have been smiling lately, or at least breaking into a ear to ear grin. Stay happy sweety.
